Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which is usually performed by either an otolaryngologist, maxillofacial surgeon, or plastic surgeon in order to improve the function (reconstructive surgery) and/or the appearance (cosmetic surgery) of a human nose.
This is still one of the most common operations in the field of cosmetic surgery. Each rhinoplasty is a particular case which must be studied at different levels. It doesn't always consist in reducing the size but in adapting it to the facial features and characteristics of each patient.

Tecnical Information: |
The most common procedure is what we call closed rhinoplasty. Small incisions are made in the interior of the nose so no visible exterior scars are left. Through these incisions the surgeon can work and shape the nose bones and cartilages, creating the new structure.
Afterwards the skin draws back and adapts to the required shape. In particularly difficult cases, especially with important deformities, open rhinoplasty is performed. With this surgical procedure a small scar is left on the base of the nose.
